Originally founded in 2000 and rebranded as KangaRoof in 2017, our company was built on the belief that homeowners deserve a better roofing experience — one centered around transparency, communication, and quality workmanship. Today, we continue that mission by helping customers make confident decisions through education, clear recommendations, and a commitment to doing the job the right way.
It all started in 1993 with a simple question from a friend outside a classroom at Iowa State: “Have you ever thought about starting a roofing company?” I borrowed a truck, a ladder, and a hammer, and spent the next few summers roofing my way through college alongside my brother, sister, and friends. After graduating as an engineer, I tried hard to leave roofing behind, spending years in commercial construction and eventually moving my family to Texas to start a general contracting business. But after struggling financially and hitting a low point in 2009, I swallowed my pride and went back to roofing — replacing my parents’ roof after a hailstorm. That one job turned into thirteen more from their friends, and it changed the way I saw the industry forever. I realized I didn’t need to be ashamed of being a roofer. I just needed to be the kind of roofer people could trust.
That philosophy became the foundation for everything we built. My wife, Stacie, joined the business in 2016, quickly proving she was the better leader, and together we grew KangaRoof into something far bigger than either of us imagined.
Today, our mission is still the same promise I made to myself back in 2009: be a good person who happens to be the best roofer in the room. Everything we do — every repair, every installation, every conversation — is built around earning trust one customer and one family at a time.
